Backyard Yoga Party

No matter what you’re fitness preferences, odds are you’ve had a moment with yoga. The spiritual benefits, the fact that it both strengthens and loosens tight muscles, what’s not to love? In the past, it’s been a pretty solitary endeavor for me. When I lived in LA, I would do Brian Kest’s Power Yoga (try it if you’re ever in the Santa Monica area!) by myself after work, and here in Sacramento, I enjoy the equally sweaty Zuda Yoga.

So imagine my delight when my friend Jaclyn invited a bunch of us over to her and her fiance’s new house for a backyard yoga party! What a cool way to break in a new backyard. It was so fun to do with friends (Jaclyn aka Style Evolver, Haley aka Colour Me Classic, and Susan) — such a refreshing way to unwind and mix it up.

Jaclyn had her yoga instructor friend, Shelby, led us in a 40 minute flow. She struck a balance of being both fun and challenging, I was loving it! With some upbeat music playing and the sun setting, it was the perfect way to spend a Friday evening and kick off the weekend.

We each got an assist from Shelby to try out a headstand.

Shelby worked in a fancy move while we did shavasana! 🙂 backyard-yoga-party-liquidology-6072-copy

We closed out the session by gathering around a cocktail of Liquidology’s Wellness Tonic and champagne. We also munched on Whole Foods brand hummus (just the right amount of lemony flavor!) and pita chips, plus plenty of cheese and crunchy veggies. backyard-yoga-party-3backyard-yoga-party-liquidology-6158-copy

How do you guys unwind? I’m hoping we make this a recurring thing!
