The Transitional Piece

In Part II of the transitional Madewell series, I’m going with a one-piece we all know and love from grade school – overalls, particularly the Denim Cross-Back Overalls. They’re back in a form-fitting, sexy way, and they’re great with a just a tee for summer, and with layers for fall. Getting them in black dresses them up even more. I can totally see these being worn with heels for a night out dancing or bar hopping.

Indian Summer Look

I lightened up the feel of these dark, sturdy overalls for a warm weather look by accenting them with a cream, camel and pale olive green color palette. Keeping the accessories spare keeps it casual and easy as well. I fell in love with these two-toned boots as a great year-round pair. Overall, this look reminds me of something I’d wear to Outside Lands — especially with the utility of the bucket bag — but it’s also the kind of daytime look you could wear virtually anywhere.

Fall Look

To take the overalls into fall, I added one of Madewell’s classic black and red flannels. I added their adorable slip-on loafers to make it a little more on-trend, and topped it with a grey beanie to cozy up the look. This mustard yellow sweater reminds me of one I had in fifth grade. A little nostalgia is sometimes the best accessory!
