Welp, it’s still hot as hell out, so I’ve put together some more transitional tips for our current sweltering weather, and for the cooler weather we’re all looking forward to this fall! For this last post in my Madewell series on transitional pieces, I chose the Flea Market Flares: Button-Front Edition. I love the lighter wash on this bootilicious pair, and that the buttons add some interest when worn with a cropped sweater.

Until recently, I wasn’t sure I was ready for flares’ big comeback. The memory of wearing them in middle school with a Blink 182 tee seemed much too recent. But after seeing the silhouette looking flirty with off-the-shoulder tops, and cool with ’70s-style pieces, I became convinced that they’re chic and incredibly easy to work into your wardrobe.

IMG_0088Tip: Wear flares with heels for a leg-lengthening look, and of course to make sure they don’t drag on the floor. IMG_0083Tip: Wear with a stiff-brim hat to really go for it with the big, dramatic shapes and the ’70s vibes.IMG_0091Tip: Pair flares with a thin, tight tee for a subtle dose of sexiness.

Fall LookIMG_0101Tip: Wear with fringe accents for a laid back, bohemian feel. A top knot would be a great way to “top” off this look, too!IMG_0105 IMG_0104 IMG_0100 IMG_0094 Tip: Relax a little! They’re so comfy, how could you not?IMG_0096 Tip: Go for it with the light, neutral vibe. I like light denim paired with creams for a soft, sweet look. IMG_0099 IMG_0110 I love all the plaid at Madewell this season. This scarf in particular is a great accessory for fall denim. IMG_0106And lastly, I just had to include this lovely pair of do-it-all heels, the Octavia Sandal. They’re so comfortable and soft – I need them in my life!

I hope these transitional looks have helped with the sometimes sweaty, awkward transition into fashion’s favorite season – fall!
